I discovered this through a friend's Myspace status and wanted to see what the hype was about.  At first I was like; "Okay...  it's a 24 hour live feed of an owl's nest.  Big deal.  Who the hell wants to see a nest of owls sit in their nest and groom themselves all day?"

Ya know...  apparently, I do!  Well... perhaps not all day; but I can't stop myself from pulling up the live feed to check up on them through out the day!  It's strangely addicting!

If money were no object, what technology big or small would you buy tomorrow?

Film and editing equipment!  I could write my own scripts, pick my own cast and film everything exactly as I wanted it with no limitations!

If you had the chance to travel anywhere in the world for a year, where would you go?

31st-Jul-2010 10:07 pm - Meerkats and Television
I finished watching the 4th and final season of Meerkat Manor.  I imagine I'm one of the last fans in the world to actually finish the series since I haven't had cable in a couple of years.  That's okay though.  The important thing is: I did finish it.  I was really happy with the ending.  Rocket Dog had won my heart by the end.  I still keep up with the meerkat groups on the Kalahari Meerkat Project website now that the series is over.  Rocket Dog was apparently run over by a car soon after the final season aired.  Also, the Commandos group is no more.  The Aztec group has thrived to 23 members and Zaphod is still alive and well as the dominat male.  The oldest meerkat on the manor!

I've got so many things I need to finish watching now!  As far as anime is concerned, I'm on episode 6 of Tokko, which means I'm almost halfway through the series.  It's managed to keep me entertained.  I'm also 6 episodes into the second season of TrueBlood.  It's a wonderful diversion to sooth my Sookie craze until the next novel is released.  I'm still on the first season of A Haunting, which once aired on the Discovery Channel (not sure if it still does), but I can only watch that during the daytime when the kids are asleep... which is a rarity.  If I watch it at night, I don't sleep unless there's a light on.  Isn't that stupid?  =/

Last but not least, I'm still actively watching Battlestar Gallactica.  I'm still on the season 2.5 dvd set.  My progress on it has slowed down dramatically due to caring for an infant and the introduction to all of these other shows through Netflix.  I'm also on the first season of Heros(which is great), and Merlin (another good one).  There's just too much to watch and not enough time!

Have you ever boycotted a company or product? If so, what was it, and what caused you to boycott it?

I boycotted something in college once, but I don't remember what it was- which means it was more than likely a shallow reason.  It might have been McDonalds.  Before they started using all white meat to make the chicken mcnuggets, I had to pull apart every nugget and inspect it to make sure there weren't any blue things in them that looked like arteries.  It always grossed me out, so I switched to Wendy's.  That had to be what it was.

I saw this on liam_sensei 's page and thought it looked interesting.
I decided to enter parts from both of the Death Note fanfics I've written and ended up with a surprise...

I write like

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

I don't know, dude.  I really just don't know. LOL.

I believe this is my personal favorite Murakami book so far!  A lot of the stories deal with lonliness and identity.  I almost hate to take it back to the library!

8th-Jul-2010 08:42 pm - My Writer's Vault: Airabuyuu
purple rose

I read somewhere that the word airabuyuu is Japanese slang for I love you.  I’m not sure how accurate that is, but I put it into it’s said context and wrote the following poem:

If I had just one more chance
I’s lead you to an everlasting romance
If I could turn back the hands of time
I’d make sure that by today, you would be mine
I’ll never rest ’til you know the truth
I foolishly mislead you in the days of our youth
Airabuyuu!  Airabuyuu!
(That’s what I would say…)
Airabuyuu!  Airabuyuu!
(…if I could see you today)
But alas, to my dismay
Because of my past actions,
it’s destined to be this way

28th-Jun-2010 05:51 pm - Vuvuzela Madness

These are the annoying horns at the soccer games that I was talking about in my last post!  They're called vuvuzela.  Whoever thought of making these things the fad of soccer games has got to be one of the biggest assholes in history!  I really do think they should ban these things!!!

Watch this video and then try to imagine yourself listening to that noise for the duration of an entire soccer game...

You might want to turn your volume down a little.  It's LOUD!!!

24th-Jun-2010 02:24 pm - Writer's Block: Family Is…
What does family mean to you?

Family can be your brightest light or your darkest shadow.  More often than not, it's a little of both.  Either way, your family is a part of who you are.

just so you know as well, I don't define family by blood.

24th-Jun-2010 01:28 pm - Book Review: The Elephant Vanishes

One thing I really enjoy about Haruki Murakami's short stories, I can put myself inside of someone else's world- a typical everday person's who really isn't too much different from anyone else- and find the irony and surrealism in the everyday redundancy that we call reality.

Some of these stories go over my head, and some of them strick a perfect chord with me; but all of them hold the ability to project a totally different meaning everytime you read them.  Forgive me again for not commenting on all of them.

12th-Jun-2010 07:28 pm - The Protector: Muay Thai vs Capoeira
The Protector.  I watched this movie with my husband the other week.  Very impressive!!!!

A father and son are guardians of a pair of elephants.  The father is killed and the elephants are stolen, so the greif stricken son sets out on a journey to get his elephants back; kicking much ass along the way.  I thought the ending was really sad, but it was very meaningful!

I'm going to share my favorite scene via Youtube.  I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned it, but I LOVE Capoeira!  I would give anyhitng to move as gracefully as one who knows this fighting style!  This is also supposed to be one of L Lawliet's many talents.  Gee, i can't imagine what posessed me to look into it. =/

Here is a scene of Muay Thai vs. Capoeira.  The guy wearing the hood (later shirtless) is the Capoeira fighter.  He's amazing!!!  He doesn't win the fight... he is the bad guy afterall.  Not only is the fight itself awesome, but the whole backdrop - on a floor flooded with water in a burning building!  Nice!!  Enjoy my friends!! =)
